Mattress Cleaning

It is important to clean your mattress regularly, in order to avoid any allergy symptoms. In many cases these symptoms are caused by Dust Mites that feed on the dead skin cells we shed while we sleep. If you are looking to hire our professional operatives to steam clean your mattress, 1st For Quality specialist steam cleaning will be the method we will recommend for you.

Most people don't know this but the house mite allergy is a hypersensitive reaction to proteins in the excretion of dust mites. The protein attacks the respiratory passages causing hay fever and asthma.

It will aggravate atopic dermatitis in people who have a tendency to this problem. Note, house dust mites are found in all homes regardless of how clean you keep your home.

They are microscopic organisms that thrive in warm and humid houses with lots of food, we shed hundreds of thousands of human dead skin particles every night. The mites prefer to live in our beds because we spend around 8 hour’s day in bed, we also inhale mass quantities of dust mite allergens on a daily basis.

The excretion of the mites contains a number of protein substances. When these are inhaled or touch the skin, the body produces antibodies. These antibodies cause the release of a chemical called histamine that leads to swelling and irritation of the upper respiratory passages which are typical asthma and hay fever symptoms. Unlike pollen, dust mites are present all year round causing constant allergy - 'perennial' allergic rhinitis.

The excretion from the mites dries out and can be launched into the air when someone walks over a rug, sits down in a chair, or shakes the bed clothes, giving allergic people immediate symptoms.
